How much will it COST to clean my building?

The short answer is....it depends...

 

The cost of a project depends on so many factors that unfortunately there isn't a one size fits all solution

 

Some of the factors that need to be taken into consideration when quoting a projects are:

 

  • What is the facade?  Is it stone, brick, render, metal cladding, glass, wood, cast stone, concrete or a combination of materials
  • How old is the building?  Is it listed?
    If the property is listed then there are methods of sensitively cleaning that tends to be preferred by conservation officers.
  • Are there any access restrictions?
    Access equipment such as cherrypickers & MEWPs are frequently needed on projects to get to the upper sections of the building, & these tend to be a more cost effective method than scaffolding.  In circumstances where it isn't possible to get access equipment to the facade then IRATA rope access qualified teams would be needed.
  • Where is the building located?
    A building on a busy High Street or a hotel or office building with heavy footfall from staff & clients may need work to be carried out either at weekends or overnight.  There may also be a need to liase with local councils to close pavements or restrict access on pedestrian areas.
  • Are there particular areas of concern?
    For example there maybe staining on the building from dripping gutters, a previous businesses signage, or from external air conditioning units.  These may require specialist poultices to be applied to remove them.

  • Are there any other services that could be beneficial to the building?
    Economies of scale can be achieved by having other work done on the building at the same time, should they be appropriate.  For example, guttering can be cleaned out & relined if required while the operative is working at height.  Powder costed aluminum window frames can be restored if they are showing signs of oxidation.  Roofs can be cleaned & cladding can be recoated.

Taking all of these factors into consideration allows for the best methodology for the particular building to be determined & from there a price.
